New NHS health centre to open in3 years in Battersea Power Station

Expected to open in 2020-21, a new advanced health centre will serve Battersea Power Station residents on Sleaford Street. Adjacent to the Power Station Phase 4, the NHS centre will provide a GP service and other healthcare facilities for the rapidly growing area.

Ravi Govindia, leader of Wandsworth Council, said:
“This will be a first-class health facility for north Battersea and will make it much easier for local people to access the quality services they need. The catchment will include existing housing estates as well as the new developments of Nine Elms where thousands of Londoners are now moving in.”

Detailed design work is expected over the coming months upon the payment of the £1.3m to Wandsworth Clinical Commissioning Group (WCCG).

For Ravi Govindia, it’s vital to provide basic utilities, new health facilities, schools, public pars and community-art spaces to the Southbank district. Previously being a logistics and industrial zone, the area is transforming into a buzzing neighbourhood full of new developments. Thus, a whole new network of social and transport infrastructure is required.

“The entire surface transport network is being overhauled, including new roads, footpaths, cycle lanes and a new riverside path. We’re also building new Tube stations and have plans for a car-free bridge across the Thames” Govindia underlined.

“This vital new infrastructure network is being funded by the area’s developments sites and without major taxpayer subsidy,” he added.
