What facilities and amenities are available at Battersea Power Station?

Battersea Power Station, a global landmark and Europe’s largest red brick building, stood derelict on the banks of the River Thames, since it was decommissioned in 1983. Renowned for its art deco design and its iconic chimneys, the Grade II listed building hits the headlines numerous time for its redevelopment. It is one of the world’s mega regeneration project that aims at bringing back the lift to south London coupled with a breathtakingly beautiful neighbourhood.

No matter, how challenging this restoration project is but the developers’ mission is to create a new and exciting spot for Londoners and global investors while preserving the unique cultural heritage of the development.

Let’s discuss a little bit about the development itself before moving to the perks that Battersea Power Station offers to its potential residents.

Battersea Power Station – London’s exciting new neighbourhood

Battersea Power Station is one of London’s largest, most exciting and most visionary developments, which will spread over 42 acres of land to house a number of community homes, apartments, penthouses, retail shops, restaurants, cafes, offices and more than 19 acres of public space.

Upon completion, it will be a vibrant mixed-use development boasting a new neighbourhood and business quarter of London.

The entire project is divided into eight phases with each phase designed by the industry’s most distinguished architects. For instance: – Circus West Village (Phase 1) is designed by Simpson Haugh and Partners and De Rijke Marsh Morgan (dRMM). – Wilkinson Eyre designed Battersea Power Station (Phase 2) . – Foster + Partners and Gehry Partners designed Phase 3 that includes The Electric Boulevard, Battersea Roof Gardens and Prospect Place.

Battersea Power Station apartments offer luxury living

Not just the riverside or city views but all the residences are incredibly designed to offer peace, tranquillity and practicality under one roof. The design plan of the entire development focuses on providing a place where people can live, work and enjoy together – through its communal vibes.

All the apartments are spacious and complemented with modern facilities within the residence. Moreover, these homes are equipped with modern features and technologies. Few of the on-site facilities include a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, spa, fitness centres, sauna, restaurants, mini cinema, cafes, 24/7 concierge service and residents’ lounge.

A power station

Battersea Power Station was a decommissioned coal-fired power plant but the new project follows the heritage of power generating. It includes its own energy centre that will provide electricity, heating, hot water, and cooling utilities to the residents. Spans over 50,000 sq. ft., the Energy Centre is one of the largest ones in size that will provide its excess energy to the local area.

The Energy Centre will generate an estimated 6MW of electrical power and 6MW of heating from its CHPs. Vitali Energy has been working on the project that has built district energy, cooling and heating systems throughout London including Merchant Square and Imperial College London.

A bespoke residents’ lounge

To make living at Battersea Power Station extraordinary and extra special, a lot of time has been invested in bringing exceptional amenities and facilities into reality.

The development team has come up with a bespoke residents’ lounge, designed by David Linley, which offers communal meetup, socializing and even working there much more exciting.

The 7,400 sq. ft. residents’ lounge is located within the top two levels of Battersea Roof Gardens overlooking the Power Station. It can be accessed by a triple storey glass foyer.

A rooftop garden

Recently, a new trend has been observed across the globe where architects, developers and designers have come forward to combat climate change by adding green spaces to apartment developments, especially on the top of skyscrapers.

In Battersea Roof Gardens, it is planned to build a 1,200 ft. long roof garden that is designed by James Corner – the landscape designer. To the west of Electric Boulevard, the garden will be on top of the entire building, which is termed as an exciting feature of the development.

The rooftop garden is expected to encourage social cohesion among the international residents. Large trees are anchored there to act as a wind barrier, to avoid wind gushes and protect the flora.

A high-end fitness centre

The multi-million pound Battersea Power Station is an iconic project, which is set to become the next best thing in London.

The project will not just offer residences to the potential buyers but it will upgrade London’s living standard by providing gold standard amenities to the residents including a private resident’s club, state-of-the-art gym and fitness centre, rooftop gardens and spectacular residents’ lounge.

  • To work on your health and physique, the development offers a 4,700 sq. ft. gym within Battersea Roof Gardens to help you reach your fitness goals. It is a double-height space studio that features a number of cardio machines and weight areas for the residents to adopt active lifestyle.
  • Besides that, the Circus West Village has much to meet your fitness needs. A gorgeous private pool, exclusive spa treatments, sauna rooms and relaxing steam sessions are there to achieve you more than what you can get from a simple fitness centre.

The spectacular parks

The entire development of Battersea Power Station is designed to offer a complete lifestyle to the residents. A number of public spaces and parks are designed in order to offer a seamless experience to the residents, whenever they will walk out of their homes.

Almost 20 acres of land are dedicated to create new open spaces, a particular space of the park has already been opened for a stroll, while the rest will also be opened in phases. LDA Design is in charge of the design of the six-acre park, with two massive lawns allowing one to stretch and enjoy the river. Families can utilize this space to simply stroll through the park or sit down and make the most of this free time at a recreational spot.

Electric Boulevard

The Electric Boulevard is an exclusive and the most vibrant place in the entire development that will give you access to reach over 40 retail units along with the world’s finest restaurants and leisure clubs.

The bustling culture, brands, and convenient location will add to a unique shopping experience for high-net-worth individuals. The Northern Line extension to the Power Station will allow locals, tourists and residents easy access to the Electric Boulevard conveniently.

For those who believe in retail therapy, the boutiques, the shops and restaurants are being carefully put together so whenever they step out, everything will be within an easy access.

Battersea Power Station (underground tube station)

The Northern Line is extended to the regenerated Battersea Power Station area, which is a major extension of the tube line in this century, though the Jubilee line was earlier extended in the late 1990s. The extension connects Kennington to Battersea Power Station, through Nine Elms Underground stations. Thanks to the newly opened tube stations, travelling time is considerably reduced – now the passengers can reach from Battersea to the West End in just 15 minutes.

The new link is of significant importance as it links Battersea Power Station to the Underground and bring several other neighbouring areas onto the Tube network. It is announced that initially, there are six trains per hour during peak time serving the passengers on the extension, which will be increased to 12 trains per hour by mid-2022. There are five trains per hour during off-peak times, which will also be doubled to 10 trains per hour next year.
