The Night Overground has arrived in London

Launched in December the night Overground service is the sixth line to run the late-night service on weekends.

About 300,000 journeys are being made every weekend on London’s Night Tube service, that was initially launched in August 2016 with great success.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said ‘The Night Tube has proven such a success with Londoners, I know the Night Overground will help thousands more who are working through the night or out enjoying our capital’s nightlife’.

The all-night weekend services add value to the capital as they reinforce the idea of a city open at all times for everyone Currently, the 24-hour service on Friday and Saturday runs between New Cross Gate and Dalston Junction.

Future plans to extend the night service to run between New Cross Gate and Highbury & Islington later in 2018 will link the Overground with the Victoria Line.

Night buses links are available from all stops of the Overground service except Shadwell and Wapping to ensure safe journeys for the residents. You can check the bus routes here

Safety and security of passengers remain the top priority and all stations along the route will continue to be staffed at all times while the trains are running, with CCTV, modern lighting and help points available across the network to assist customers as required. Specially trained Travel Safe Officers will also travel throughout the night across the London Overground network alongside TfL funded British Transport Police officers who work across the London Overground and Tube networks.

Leon Daniels, TfL’s Managing Director Surface Transport, said:

“The launch of Night Overground promises quicker and easier journeys for our customers. So whether you are off to enjoy the vibrant nightlife in east London or one of the Capital’s many shift workers, Night Overground will help you get there safely. Launching night services on this key part of London Overground builds on the success of the Night Tube, which has already provided a boost to London’s economy and helped support thousands of jobs.”

Londoners working the night shift or enjoying the capital’s nightlife, as well as tourists will highly benefit from the night service that will improve connectivity within London and provide new transport links.

The night services will also soon include parts of the following lines: Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan.
