YouTube launches 1st Space for MENA in Dubai
YouTube recently announced the launch of the Middle East and North Africa’s first YouTube Space to grow the creative community of the region. Space is the 10th in the world and is situated in Dubai Studio City. The decision from YouTube comes after the exploding number of MENA channels during the past three years. Video activity in the MENA has risen by 160% with subscribers reaching over one million.

YouTubers in the region will have free access to state-of-the-art production facilities such as high-end audiovisual and editing equipment while training, workshops, and courses will also be available on site. The YouTube Space will aim to engage the growing community of YouTubers while creating a meeting place for them to engage and create.
“Creators are the heartbeat of YouTube and supporting them has long been one of our most important priorities, and we want the YouTube Space in Dubai to be a hub where creators don’t just continue to make the videos millions of people have grown to love but to also experiment with new formats and ideas made possible by the Space’s production facilities,” said David Ripert, Head of YouTube Spaces in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Dubai joins the long list of cities hosting a Space such as London, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, Mumbai, Paris, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto. Workshops and production slots will be limited during the first two months, however, after Ramadan, creators will be able to enquire through YouTube Space’s online booking system.
Increased investment from tech giants in Dubai indicates the growing optimism not only for real estate recovery in the Emirates but also indicates the desire to establish strong foundations for the years to come.
